Warrior-Centric Healthcare Training

D2 TEAM-Sim (D2) designed and developed the Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) training portion of the Steptoe Group LLC’s proprietary and patent-pending Warrior-Centric Healthcare Training (WCHT). The training was implemented for the Warrior Transition Unit (WTU) and its cadre; which comprised primary care managers, nurse case managers, social workers, clinical nurses, medical specialists, physical therapist, occupational therapists, squad leaders, platoon sergeants, company commanders, and Warrior Support Center personnel at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC). The goal of the WCHT System is to provide Walter Reed Army Medical Center with advanced education training for WTU providers and cadres’ development that are anchored in cultural proficiency to meet the Wounded Warriors and their family members’ needs.

The IMI developed by D2 is utilized for the 3, 6 and 9 month sustainment training for the WCHT course. D2 developed virtual characters (avatars) to represent various case study subjects, and married voice-over audio to the virtual characters to produce pseudo-realistic animations and visualizations. Using our proprietary software, D2 Distributed Instruction Framework (DIF®), we designed and developed the interactive course that is both Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) conformant and is compliant with Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
